Practicing yoga is gradually
becoming popular as people around the world are getting inclined towards it to gain
mental peace and physical stability. The fact that it is being considered as another
form of medicine adds to its recognition. With the increase in people
practicing it, there is an enormous demand for efficient and quality yoga
teachers. Participants should know the fact that doing yoga for themselves is
different from becoming an instructor and teaching the same to others.
Besides having comprehensive
basic knowledge about all the asanas, there are several other qualities that require
to be mastered so as to become a good
yoga teacher. Some of
those basics are discussed as below:
Being a good
student is the primary step to become a good teacher
What you learn from
being a student is what you will express in the future. Being a good practitioner
and listener will always help. Achieving profound knowledge of the subject and
its use will definitely help you in providing what your students expect.
Versatile and
Adjustable
One should be adaptable
enough to react with the students without cooperating and changing the focus or
the subject of the class. Ability to adjust and shape your student the way you
want is what will make you a great teacher.
Ability to
Encourage
There is no refuting
of the fact that a little inspiration can do miracles, especially when they
come from teachers. Try to inspire by saying words that will boost their
spirits and motivate them to do well every time.
Be Passionate
and be Responsible
Teaching yoga
should not just be a profession but should be a passion for you. Yoga is divine
and imparting, and practicing it needs dedication and passion. Be liable enough
to accept our mistakes if any, and welcome the suggestions. This will do heaven
of good for you in the future.
Don't be
Reserved and egoistic.
Being a yoga
teacher, you are sure to be calm and composed and not too outspoken. But this
does not mean that you stop reaching out to your apprentices just for selfish
reasons. Leaving all shyness a good teacher should always be ready to devote
all his power to train the people attending his class.
Relax and Have
Fun
Learning anything
should not be confused. It should be fun and relaxing. Give time to relax and have some fun. This
will make the entire process of learning very simple and will also revitalize
the students for the next session of asanas.
Getting information
is very easy but imparting it or teaching it in an effective manner is hard
found.
